A Black-Hispanic Father’s Fight: Child Support Racism and Crypto’s Redemption - By Mike Reyes, @USBlockchainCap on X

As a Black and Hispanic Dominican-American man, I’ve faced a racist Rhode Island court system...

As a Black and Hispanic Dominican-American man, I’ve faced a racist Rhode Island court system that turned my dream of fatherhood into a nightmare. But through cryptocurrency, I’ve found a way to reclaim my power and build a future against all odds.

Betrayed and Abandoned
In 2011, I brought my pregnant partner from China to the U.S. for our son’s birth, hoping he’d have American citizenship. As a pro-life man, I married her despite her parents’ push for abortion. We agreed she’d stay with my family in New York while I finished my master’s in China. I left her with a round-trip ticket, but hospital social workers lured her away with false promises of apartments and money. Instead, she landed in a shelter, refusing to join me. Years later, she dropped our son with my mother, then falsely accused her of kidnapping to save her welfare benefits. She got a restraining order, divorced me claiming abandonment, and vanished again.

Rhode Island’s Racist System
In 2020, Rhode Island’s courts hit me with child support for a son I’ve never met—he doesn’t even have my name. The system, rooted in racism, targets Black and Hispanic men like me, treating us as debt slaves. I offered to pay more pre-COVID, but when I lost my job, the court denied relief, piling on interest. Now, I owe tens of thousands, facing jail if I don’t pay. My ex said I’ll ā€œnever meetā€ my son, and the judge agreed, claiming it’d ā€œtraumatizeā€ him—yet I must pay. Rhode Island’s courts profit from full jails, backed by hedge funds, and men of color bear the brunt.

Crypto’s Liberation
The pain of never knowing my son stings, but crypto gave me hope. In 2020, I dove into Bitcoin, XRP, and Ethereum, turning small investments into gains by 2021. Crypto isn’t just money—it’s freedom from a system that chains us. Black and Hispanic men are leading crypto ownership, building wealth despite racism. I’m saving, trading, and teaching my community to fight back.

Keep Fighting
If Rhode Island’s courts have you trapped, explore crypto. Start small, learn, and join X communities for tips. The system’s racist, but we can rise above it. I dream of leaving wealth for my son, even if we never meet.
